Pieces: 31 - Dimensions: 8 1/2" x 11" x 1/8" - Paper: Photo glossy

An "Edgie" (tm) is a puzzle which has NO non-edge pieces! This one was designed by drawing a "double swirl curl" line from one side of the page to the other. After that, similar but shorter "swirl curl" lines were drawn starting somewhere on this central line and going to the edge. Where to start / finish each line was dictated by what areas seemed to have the most white space available.

After the lines were drawn (in pencil) they were "wobbled" by using a pen and drawing back and forth over the original line to make the pieces more interesting and the puzzle more interlocking.

Lines originating from these "secondary" lines were then drawn. This recursive method continued until it became too crowded to draw any more lines. Since using this approach produces a piece count which equals one more than the number of lines drawn, stopping at 30 lines produced a 31 piece puzzle.

The sizes of the pieces range from very large to quite small. Because there is quite a bit of text and a variety of different font sizes and colors and since every piece is a (white) edge piece and the shapes are totally wild and squiggly, assembly of this puzzle is quick and a lot of fun.

In the next "Edgie" (tm), the smaller edge pieces that lie near the most central swirl curl line will be made more interlocking; this puzzle tends to split at this central swirl curl line when pulled apart because these pieces don't interlock very well.
